Bora Aksu AW11 collection at London Fashion Week

This collection titled ‘Angel & Fiend’ was inspired by the struggle between Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde where angel and fiend each strive for mastery.

Main colour palette was different shades of grey from dark charcoal to light silver with splashes of emerald green. The Victorian theme is strong with short capes, bow ties donning dresses as well as blouses, and the front of long tailored waistcoats forming part of dresses.
The Victorian ladies style suit with leg of lamb sleeves, high neck with large bow tie and peplum trim is given a modern twist in sliver and teamed with a full short skirt. Lots of texture here as the give a 3 dimensional feel as though you are seeing inside the body with lace skirts and trousers, leather piping on tweeds and strips of fabric such as cable knits, plastic, leather and plastic ingeniously mixed with chiffon. Even the black tights have this feel with their slashes of white, and the diaphanous trousers show the underneath layers of tights and long blouse tails.
Nearing the end the models wore chiffon around their heads like bandages, maybe representing the madness of Mr Hyde.
