Titled ‘Heavy Metal’, the collection was not as I expected
to be; there were no biker boots, skull
motifs or chains. Here heavy metal represented strength with style and the
confident effortless presence of a woman.
The models wore their hair combed back into a tight no
nonsense pony tail and their makeup in a natural look to compliment the pure
forms of the collection.
Seemingly plain staple silk shirts soon revealed their true
identity as they billowed like capes at the back where the length grew longer
and the fabric more voluminous.
Long hand cut leather fringing embellished the
soft raw leather pieces...
.... and splash design prints by the artist O graced the
oversized t-shirts and long dresses. Jeans were sprayed on skinny, some with
asymmetrical hems and leather pocket detailing.
The shearling jacket was given an update with a soft
waterfall opening.
Colour palette was neutral greys, blacks and bleached blue.
This collection was not as dramatic as their dark and grungy
‘Valkyre’ AW11 collection, but definitely a more wearable casual style.
