Louise Gray Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

Now What?Maybe a few designers murmur this after showing their latest collection and are now are thinking ahead or the next season.Scottish fashion designer Louise Gray went one step further and used it for the title of her SS13 collection.

The collection focuses on clean silhouettes to display her prints and cloth to the best advantage.

And there were prints galore!
Newsprints, abstract graphics, quilted devore and Gray’s own doodles.

Picture images Andy Warhol style along with slogans of ‘Choose’ and ‘Good Times’

Soft breezy bias cut silk dresses are given an edge with newspaper print and open slashes along the seams.

As in the past, this collection confirms Gray’s love of textures and colours:
A monochrome varsity jacket covered with an embroidered overlay in a splash of bright orange.  A silky sheen skirt in aqua adorned with silver leather panel inserts. The classic white shirt is given an update with a black splatter print.

This dress shows Gray’s use of different fabrics, patterns and colours to create a collage of fun and style.  A mix of sequinned, ribbed and chiffon fabrics, plus zigzags, dots and geometric patterns with bright accents of colour.

Simple monochrome gingham dresses and skirts are hardly recognisable covered in raw edged appliqué

Mirrored discs on pastel lilac bring out the 60’s super summer disco vibe.

Rolled up fabric stitched on to tops and dresses add 3D lines

Gray’s signature knitwear is never boring. This season fine lace knit panels marry with chunkier knits, and monochrome with bright colours.

The collection includes a collaboration with Barbie as Gray created three main looks including a 21st Century version of Barbie’s first dress seen through Louise’s eyes.

You’d be forgiven for thinking pink but the first piece of clothing Barbie ever wore was a black and white swimsuit which Gray has carried through for her Barbie look.
Although pink does make a brief appearance as badges decorating the monochrome graffiti tee

Collaborations were with:
Mirrored hats with silhouette cutaways including think bubbles, bows and the derby hat by milliner Stephen Jones

Colour block and patterned flat derby shoes and peep toe wedges by Robert Clegerie

Perspex geometric earrings by Tatty Devine. And check out those gigantic mirrored rings with slogans of HOT, WOW, WHAT NOW to name a few.
