Markus Lupfer SS18 Collection at London Fashion Week

Markus Lupfer’s girl travels to Florida. She is too busy to sleep; there are too many parties to go to and too many dresses to wear. The only time she lies down is beside the pool in Palm Springs.

The collection takes on a retro vibe with patterned shirt dresses which Lupfer then covers with the on trend sheer overlay for a modern twist.

Prints hint of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco style with silhouetted monkeys swinging on winding floral vines whilst the sinuous water lily and a simple four petal daisy are restrained in rows of vertical and horizontal lines.

Sequinned floral appliqués provide a touch of modesty to the fashionable sheer look on dress, skirts and blouses

Colour palette is bold with royal blue, white, orange, pinks and greens.

Statement jewellery features sequined parrots, palm trees, rainbows and butterflies wrapped around the ankles and wrists with ribbon.

This collections says it's not the city that never sleeps but the girl.

MARKUS LUPFER PRESENTS THE Pre FALL/AUTUMN 2016 COLLECTION

The wintry contrasts of Nordic nature create the canvas for Pre-Fall 2016, where the elemental colours of a cold climate deepen the rich florals found amongst ice-capped peaks and mossy forest floors. It sets the tone for a darkly romantic collection embodied by folk inspired motifs and a traditional sense of native earthiness.

A fairy tale atmosphere is established in themes of placements prints, patterns and embroidery influenced by the intricate nineteenth century paper cuttings of Hans Christian Andersen. They materialise in garments adorned with flowers, checks and charming nature scenes such as a swan lake design. Snakeskin pieces and a geometric metallic jacquard back up a 1960s mood echoed in short skirts and little jackets.
Knitwear takes centre stage in cable knit, lurex jacquard, and graphic intarsia, and in the shape of a cape embellished with embroidered florals as well as frills, which appear throughout the collection on high necks and cuffs once again highlighting a folky element to the season.
Embracing the natural Nordic character, boots with lipstick-shaped heels are covered in sheepskin while evening heels in metallic frills reflect the collection’s contrasting themes. Handbags carrying the signature elements of the brand are introduced to the collection.
Produced in Italy, all materials including suede, textured grained calf, and sheep skin are patchworked and colour-blocked into casual styles for a relaxed daywear feel.
Colours are refined and kept to muted flesh and earthy tones, while lip-shaped gems reflect the trademark embellishment of the brand and add a sense of fun to the pieces.

MARKUS LUPFER SS16 Collection at London Fashion Week

A barren wasteland comes to life as SS16 embodies the contrasts found in the fertile deserts of Mexico. The idea of endless arid landscapes interrupted by lush nature inspires an image of playful versus moody femininity, reflected in a colour palette of blacks against taupes, light pinks and motifs of cacti with flowers.

Clean A-line shapes play canvas to the flora and fauna of dry climates, with cacti woven graphically in sheer fil coupe and similarly transformed into a print version.

Rich florals appear throughout the collection, in placement prints featuring graphic flowers on stripes, embroidered on a sheer organza bomber and skirt,

and in a rustling 3D sequin embellishment resembling a blooming desert, echoed in shoes.

Fusing the light and dark themes of the collection, a motif sees a Mexican luchador in a traditional wrestling mask holding a flower. Evoking the humorous characteristic of Markus Lupfer’s work, the design is used in patch garments, printed on crepe and embroidered in t-shirts.

MARKUS LUPFER X DISNEY COLLECTION

Knitwear maestro Markus Lupfer has been rooting through the Disney archives to dream up a collection of Mickey Mouse fronted takes on his trademark sequin pieces.

Reflecting the DNA  of the Lupfer brand and the designer’s unique and artful approach to everyday basics, the unmistakable ears of Mickey sit upon the luxury of 100% merino wool and soft cotton in the five piece line.

The classic illustrations from the hands of Walt Disney – now graphically hand-crafted onto each garment in colourful sparkle – represent  the spirit of wit and playfulness Lupfer wanted to bring to the collaboration.

MARKUS LUPFER SS16 WOMENSWEAR

A contemporary take on exploration, Resort 2016 draws inspiration from the modern globetrotter.

While nautical references pay homage to traditional resort-wear, the collection is rooted in the idea of the accessible world for the active woman of today. Delicate graphic shell motifs establish a new sense of pretty, contrasted by boyish expressions in detailing of garments and the collection’s structured silhouette, giving life to a youthful and cool femininity with a natural toughness.

A ship-themed print mimics the traditional tattoos of sailors, while an ML logo jacquard featuring meteorology symbols add new life to global travel and navigation icons.
Illustrating the garments’ dynamic between the sporty and the luxe, richly embroidered pieces easily transform into daywear when paired with a glitter trainer, summing up the nature of the collection. Drawing on that same notion, the starry night effect of a constellation print adds a sense of sparkle to casual pieces, elevating the look.

Casual knitwear appears in graphic candy stripes and patch worked cashmere, and outerwear is given a more refined expression through detailing and fabrication. The meeting between sheer and non-sheer, featured throughout the collection demonstrates a tougher Markus Lupfer girl.
