Zeynep Kartal AW17 at London Fashion Week

For AW17, Kartal takes her inspiration from the 1920s Glitz and Glamour age with emphasis on a strong steely woman with sexy defining her discipline with her femme fatal vices.

Zeynep conjures into the night with hand embellished antique rose motifs from the the legendary British florist of the 1920s Constance Spry mixing with high gloss satins and lace capturing the vintage decade.

With couture inspired silhouettes and 20s tailored flapper dresses coated with a slickness attitude on silk lace.
.

Constance yields a dynamic infusion of classic and modern, a new type of luxury with opulent evening wear that gives daywear a reminiscence to Spry's past and a celebration for the future.

Heavy exuberant embroideries in Art Deco shapes with silk fringes and ruffles,

clean cut tailoring, leafy printed macrame lace and spiral applique leaf embellishments using the unique Kartal signature of the finest natural silk fabrics.

Classic Tuxedo styles are given an elegantly casual make over to become more loungewear.

Refined tailoring takes inspiration from classic pyjama styles which move from night to day dressing.
Velvet gives textural relieve and a sumptuous relaxed feeling.

The key seasonal peacock hues include deep emerald and pea green for a forest like quality

with chalk pink, rust and amethyst starring as the palette warmer for a look that's more transitional.

Creamier hues are mixed with nearly black night shades in a refined way.

Fabrics include silk, transparent chiffon, organza and handmade lace.

Belstaff Women's AW17 Presentation 'Jolly Roger'

For Autumn/Winter 17, Menswear and Womenswear are unified in a theme rich with Belstaff’s military heritage: the “Jolly Roger” naval and submariner inspired collection is both tribute and testament to the incredible clothing worn by the British Royal Navy throughout WWII.
The collection then interprets the harsh realities of life at sea through colour, fabric diversity and an array of special vintage wax treatments for a worn-in look.

The parka is a key piece for the season and arrives in a variety of styles , The emphasis centres on an incredibly protective foul-weather parka which is a contemporary reproduction of a jacket made by Belstaff in 1960. Made from down-filled ballistic nylon (originally developed as a material for flak jackets for WWII airmen) exclusive to Belstaff and with a down-filled hood liner, it is supremely functional and constructed to stylishly withstand the very worst of the elements.

Traditional pea coat details such as the slash pockets and wide lapels are present while in the women’s versions, subtle leather details such as latches and buttons have been applied for a contemporary twist. An Officer’s coat with dulled silver naval buttons appears for women,

In women’s leather, there are two very notable additions showcasing Belstaff’s fabric innovation: the first is an incredibly lightweight down-filled leather blouson and the second is a machine-washable nappa leather jacket. Crackled vinyl-effect leather is a stylistic innovation in women’s.

Shearling pieces, many of which are opulently reversible, form a key part of both men’s and women’s outerwear this season due to their incredible warmth and luxurious tactility.

Other leather jackets feature emblems on their backs, ie the Jolly Roger in women’s

Tattoos have always been a naval tradition, not just in the British Royal Navy but also in the US Navy. Belstaff have incorporated this heritage of symbolism in two distinct styles. The first is a more edgy reproduction of classic naval tattoos such as the swallow (which signifies a sailor accomplishing 5000 nautical miles out at sea) and the anchor. Placed randomly across a variety of garments, they have been designed in the rich and vibrant style of “Sailor Jerry”, a prolific tattoo artist who etched his trade in the red light district of Honolulu during WWII. These motifs have also been extrapolated to form a more feminine lace-like graphic resembling body art.

Lastly, the iconic Jolly Roger flag, which was raised by victorious submarines on their return to harbour has also been applied to elements of the collection. Tattoo emblems and the Jolly Roger appear across men’s and women’s on leather, wax, knitwear, sweats, tees and shirting.

Sharing the same colour palette across menswear and womenswear, this season focuses on industrial tones of red, brown, blue and military green, particularly throughout Belstaff’s core pieces. Charcoal grey, black and true navy form a base from which emerge brighter hues such as spruce teal, sanderling, cardinal red and burnished gold.

In leather and waxed cotton, colours have been given an aged effect for a unique patina. Much brighter and more vibrant colours are found in the naval tattoo motifs which add a personalised touch. For women, two new bag shapes appear: a small cross-body and larger hobo with adjustable strap, both with naval roping details and large hooks.

THE BELSTAFF & LIV TYLER AW16 COLLECTION

This is the first capsule that the American actress has worked on with modern British heritage brand Belstaff, to which she is Ambassador and Creative Contributor.

“I’d always wanted to create a few timeless classics. Things I have in my closet but wished I designed myself,” says Liv Tyler. “I sought to express strength through the outerwear and leather pieces alongside a more feminine sensual side through the softer materials like silk, and via the more fitted silhouettes of my styles. It’s a celebration of the feminine and masculine rolled into one.”

A fine leather jacket with a removable collar and a quilted interior is contrasted with blush pussy-bow blouses and fitted under-the-knee riding boots.

A new, more fitted take on the Milford (the coat Belstaff originally created for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock) has been created in three fabrications, while two nylon parkas come with removable shearling gilets.

New technical fabrications for Belstaff include a protective coated treatment and water-repellent cotton and a lightweight nylon.
“I have a preference for clothes that are practical and functional but also very luxurious and elegant. I like being able to throw a look together quickly and feel and look my best. I know what works for me and my body, and I try to stick to that” adds Tyler.

The 13 style capsule is available now from Belstaff stores, select department stores and independents and on http://www.belstaff.co.uk/women/collections/liv-tyler/?HP-Hero-Shop

A good part of the collection is made up of outerwear in a nod to Belstaff’s foundations as a brand and to Liv’s own reliance on a great coat to pull a look together whilst adding “a touch of masculinity”. “When I think of Belstaff, I think of great coats that last a really long time and get better and better with age,” adds Liv, who despite the time she spent in the company archive, ended up focusing on the future: “I wanted to create something fresh that every woman would want to add to her closet and keep for many years to come” she concludes.

The capsule was shot on up and coming model Greta Varlese in Brooklyn’s Red Hook Docks, with Tyler art directing.

. Her second capsule with Belstaff will follow for Spring 17.
