Lera Leshchova Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

The style of the LL brand is pure and clean, playing with contrasts and tailoring with a slight deconstuction.

Focusing on  clean lines, the main colour palette was of muted tones ranging from nudes, pink to light brown.

The timeless collection of fluid dresses had a  dash of glitz in the form of exaggerated folds lined with sparkling lurex in lavender pink.

Oliver Spencer Launches Capsule Womenswear Collection

Oliver Spencer renowned for his menswear, has now stepped in to womenswear with his first capsule collection for AW13.
Asked why he decided to venture in to the women’s side of fashion, Oliver explained that he realised women were discovering his brand through their boyfriends/husbands and had started to buy the smallest sizes of his men’s collection for themselves.
So it was a natural progression to create a capsule wardrobe for his female followers of style. Taking inspiration from the menswear collection, he has kept close to the men’s designs creating an androgynous capsule wardrobe but ensuring the pieces were cut and tailored to fit the female form.

The wide colour block horizontal stripes found on the men’s AW13 trousers and suits are repeated on the Willow shirtdress and the men’s comfy joggers in marl grey have found their way easily on to the women’s section.

Keeping the same inspiration as his men’s AW13 collection, Spencer looked towards the 20th century German art theorist Joseph Beuys and his involvement in the 1960s Fluxus Movement which saw art as a game for the artist to reconfigure the rules. Trousers are narrow with an androgynous silhouette but fitted close to the body and are complimented with loose tops for that clean tailored look.

The Willow shirt dress in navy is indigo dyed to mimic a denim look, but also with a diamond shaped print reminiscent of a Japanese kimono pattern.
Can we expect to find Oliver Spencer women’s collection on the catwalk of London Fashion Week in the near future? Oliver has no plans as yet. At the moment he finds the design and creation of the women’s collection a relaxing diversion to the demands of his men’s collections and wants to keep it that way for a while at least. Maybe not a whole show at LFW, but here’s hoping he will consider adding one or two female models wearing a few women’s pieces into his men’s catwalk show.
