AW13 Hot Trends from QVC Fashion Show-RUSSIAN DOLL

QVC held their AW13 catwalk show revealing 9 hot trends for the season:
We've shown  you the Twilight Hour, Twisted Heritage, Military Madam, GoldiRocks, Throw on the Faux Fur, Wine & Roses, Into The Boudoir and La Dolce Vita.
The last of the trends is RUSSIAN DOLL
Eastern European inspired motifs and Asian florals.

Belle Sauvage AW13 Collection

This is East meets the dark romantic Gothic and Renaissance of the West.

Opulence abounds with faux fur capelets in rich deep shades of red and purple providing just a touch of warmth but plenty of glamour.

 Silk patterned shift and tunic dresses are edged with gothic black lace on hems, collars and sleeves

Wide fur collars added texture and fun to others.

Matching short jackets and pencil skirts give a ladylike nod to the Chanel suit whilst dipping into the darker world of the rich Baroque prints.

The prints used are original artwork by the designer duo and each print represents either   the West or the East. For the West it is the baroque patterns plus designs of large colourful gem stones.

Chains creating undulating vertical lines provide a more contemporary Western print.

Whilst for the East, the prints take on the form of fiery red lions, an animal regarded highly in China, often be seen in stone as guardians to the front of traditional buildings and associated with power and prestige.

 

And that of the graceful black panther camouflaged in the dense forest and ready to pounce.

 

A touch of fun and lightness uplifts as faces of Renaissance women with flowing blonde and red hair.

And that of the D’Artagnan cat cameo sweater. Also showing this collection was a mix of street wear and high end design

 

As a contrast to the straight shift dress, peplums accentuated the hips and waist on the more tailored pencil skirts.

Carlotta Actis Barone AW13/14 Collection

Think black and white 1930’s Hollywood glamour with pleated skirts in diaphanous floaty chiffon, nipped in waists and structured shoulders.

Carlotta contrasts her fabrics in each garment.  The flowing soft pleated nets with the semi rigid satin and faux leathers.....

 ......And geometric slashes of transparent fine nets in between the thicker jersey, wool and faux leather fabrics.

The elegant and graceful looks of the collection were inspired by two artists: The soft cubism/Art Deco paintings of Tamara de Lempika and the geometric works of Italian visual artist Manuela Corti (Carlotta’s mother)

 Monochrome colour block panels added a touch of cubism.

Mainly of cocktail dresses and long evening gowns, the collection also included a few jackets and coats.  This black coat complements the curve of the body with its nipped in waist and cocoon shaped skirt.

Taking full advantage of the way the voluminous swing coat sways out, Carlotta ensures the patterned lining also attracts attention. Even when closed this lining will peep out with every movement or breeze.  Matched with black skinny paints adorned with a side stripe of the same print.  

Here the 30s princess style is updated to a shorter length. The front opening curves to the left with oversized buttons, whilst the length of the right lapel is elongated bringing balance to the unusual design.

The jackets are paired with diaphanous chiffon skirts for evening wear. Like the above coat, the front opening of the jackets curve but this time with hidden fastenings and no collar, presenting a feminine minimalistic look.

Nina Naustdal - Gold Collection AW13

Inspiration for Nina Naustdal's AW13 Gold Collection was taken from raw diamonds in natural and unique colour ways of emerald and amber.

 The bold print on sumptuous silks reflected the iridescence of these precious jewels

Animal prints were also present  looking more exotic....

The leopard bathed in sunset orange

 or tamed as the background to a more cultured and classic equestrian style 

 .....whilst the snake print was surrounded by a swirling hypnotic kaleidoscope of colours, 

Fabrics included silks, floaty chiffons with accents of velvet and leather panel detailing.

The collection ranged from day wear with tailored separates.
