David Koma Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

The designers signature angular lines still dominate but this season there is a softness with transparent linear inserts and cutouts working to give Koma's geometric edge a more feminine touch.
Necklines and hems are asymmetric

Tailored dresses, spiral cut tops and sharp separates have a sporty feel.

Colour palette is black and white with accents of bright blue and sunshine yellow.

Glamour comes in the guise of crystals in geometric patterns.

David Koma SS14 Collection at London Fashion Week

Inspired by Kyudo, the Japanese martial art of archery, the collection concentrated on structure and perfect balance with thick leather strips in both white and black providing the frame and weight for the sculptural shapes.  

Skirt lengths ranged from short to just below the knee. Styles ranged from the stiff sharp A line to the figure hugging body con. All in fabrics of thick jersey or silk and trimmed with leather resulting in a warrior appearance.  

Stiff sheer organza covering bare shoulders brought a vulnerability to the armour. Sandals were designed by Alain Quilici especially for the collection.

  

The dresses’ elaborate leather harness straps represented the ‘muneate’ or chest protector worn by female archers. 

Whilst Odoshi lacing used to tie the plates together on a Samurai armour was emulated in to the stripe prints  

And later in the collection as the leather detailing

 Using only a limited colour palette, the show began with graphic monochrome,

Softened with the Zen like serenity of dusty pink and powder blue.

And ending on a strong clear note of Royal blue edged with white or black. Again the Royal blue looks set to be THE colour for SS14.

Davod Koma AW12 Collection

David Koma draws inspiration from ancestral portraits, the slender elegance of the 1920s and the minimal fashion detailing of the 1960s.

.. Boldini's portrayal of the Marchesa Luisa Casati's charms.

Inspired by Thierry Poncelot's portraits of dogs in aristocratic attire, volume is created using ruched draping to minimise the waist and enhance the femal figure, reminiscent of Victorian dress.

Collars are high and stiff, recalling those on the mens shirts worn in the 1920s

Wool, fur and silks combined with technical fabrics adding a modern sportswear twist.

Colour palette was black and white with rich accent shades of dark blues, olive green....

... and plum tones.(Check out the greyhound silhouettes on the print)

The exclusive footwear was designed in collaboration with Alain Quilici and features sculpted greyhounds on the heels (you can just see on the model's white shoes in the background)
