SALVATORE FERRAGAMO LAUNCH COLLABORATION WITH JEWELLERY DESIGNER DANIELA VILLEGAS
Salvatore Ferragamo, the Italian luxury fashion House, channels its founder’s long-standing love of nature and travel with the launch of a wild bird-inspired jewellery collection in collaboration with acclaimed jewellery designer Daniela Villegas.
The collection depicts the themes of freedom and exploration through the prism of wild birds.
The heart of the collection sees Daniela Villegas playfully channel the highly coloured birds and wildlife that feature on iconic silk scarves and the Ars shoe designed by Salvatore in the late 1950s.
Reinterpreted for the modern cosmopolitan woman, a rich narrative of parakeets, parrots and birds of paradise flying from their cages is brought to life by the handcrafted skills of master Italian goldsmiths using vibrant combinations of sterling silver and purest gemstones such as green Topaz and purple Amethyst. A limited edition in gold and diamonds is available in selected stores.
Consisting of four categories – necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets effortlessly updates the quality, colour, humour, Italian spirit and innovative mix of materials that have long been recognized as Ferragamo hallmarks.
The birdcage, adorned with the House’s signature Gancio emblem, is a recurring design trope in the collection, while the parakeet evokes a sense of playfulness and joy, and the parrot symbolizes abundance and self-expression.
Drawing inspiration from nature and a restless desire to explore the world, Villegas says: “In the natural trajectory of progression, nature always provides a soothing and joyful dose to cope with the wear and tear that comes with evolution. Having the opportunity to work on this collection with a brand like Ferragamo has been a dream come true for me.
” The collection by Daniela Villegas is the latest chapter in Salvatore Ferragamo’s historical mentoring, which started with the founder’s investment in Italy's world-class craftsmanship, and continues today through the company’s Fondazione Ferragamo, which among its other activities, sponsors those who aspire to work in the world of fashion, design and the highest and most artistic forms of Italian craftsmanship.
The Daniela Villegas for Salvatore Ferragamo collection will be available to purchase both in stores

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO SS16 COLLECTION - MILAN FASHION WEEK
Classic, timeless, balance, moderation, harmony. Choosing clarity as a means of expression, Massimiliano Giornetti seeks pure forms in the new Salvatore Ferragamo collection.
The focus is on lines, the texture of the material to create a noble and solemn portrait, marked by a feeling of lightness and unexpected austerity.
The vibrant and lofty silhouette features midi hems and transmits a sense of vertical delicacy. The long double cotton cloaks and strapless dress with floating volumes terminates in high frills. Small rounded jackets are sculptured like architectonic spaces.
The unequivocal female appeal of garments that envelop and knot around the body is ever present: bows are scattered along the profile of ample sleeves, ribbons lace-up on the back, all expressing a shy seductiveness.
Feathers and small ruffles unite in vertical lines on garments of impalpable liquidity, large frills follow the necklines, highlighting the shoulders.
The colour palette centres on the extreme opposites of black and white, accentuated with touches of rust, blue, vermillion, pink and green.
The accessories add a tone of lightness to the rigour, thanks to closed-toe sandals and low metal heels, small clean designed shoulder bags and bucket bags that are enlivened by the cosmetic nuances of bubblegum pink, blue and bright yellow.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO Spring/Summer 2015
For Spring Summer 2015, the iconic facets of Salvatore Ferragamo are reimagined by Massimiliano Giornetti.
By playing with textures - handled, cut, frayed, and melted – the collection experiments with craftsmanship and handmade uniqueness. Materials entertain pattern with imperfect perfection, evolving Ferragamo design.. Always seeking balance, the 3D allure of surfaces is expanded to showcase the purity of precise tailoring. Tops and skirts are married by sculptured details..
Pouch coats and short capes fastened at the waist with reptile leather belts are crafted from structural woven fabrics that also remember Salvatore’s original use of materials mixed with python or skin interspersed with woven snakeskin. Natural colours are broken by sudden bright flecks and metal veins that underscore a metamorphic quality. Materials with an organic effect on the exterior contrast with the bold sparkling satin interior linings that decorate garments.
The colour effects of murano glass are utilized and transformed into jacquard prints. Animal-print motifs and designs iconic to the House of Ferragamo recall the colours of reptiles which naturally merge with the geometrical patterns in a magmatic process of graphic and chromatic fusion. The vertical profile of the figure is enhanced by bold wedge heels, a design that remembers Salvatore’s original rainbow sandal with elements of early 1940s, this time modernized in monochromatic palettes reinforced by the luxurious details of tiny chains and exotic skins.
Handbags, a tribute to Ferragamo’s handcrafted elegance, come in the form of doctor bags referencing the use of mixed materials, chain shoulder clutch handbags with geometrical inserts, and mat tote bags with polychrome glass handles. Murano glass makes literal use of the Italian craft with bracelets, chains and clutches hand blown by craftsmen.
