Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards

Many celebrities all proved they had specs appeal at Specsaver's  20th annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards.
 The awards saw James Adenrele, age 27 from Milton Keynes (top image with Emma Bunton), presented with the overall Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2015 prize.

 Music manager and talent show judge Louis Walsh  flaunted his specs factor on the night as a guest judge of the competition which celebrates ordinary specs wearers and celebrities who look fantastic in their glasses.

 Fresh from the Celebrity Big Brother house, former Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton and her partner Ritchie, of Five fame, proved they were the purrfect pop pairing in being jointly awarded the Style Star title at the event in aid of anti-bullying charity, Kidscape. Natasha said: “As anyone who watched CBB would have seen, I love my specs and I love them big and dramatic. Your glasses should be as much of a fashion statement as any other accessory you wear, there is so much choice now and a huge variety of styles to choose from. My advice to anyone buying a new pair of specs is to choose a pair that you feel reflects you rather than trying to go with a specific trend. I also love Ritchie in his glasses, they really suit him.”
 Ritchie added: “I think Tash looks great in her glasses and like Tash we both make wearing our glasses part of our look. It’s great fun to receive this award and hopefully inspire others, especially kids, to wear their glasses with pride.”

 Emma Bunton, who got her first pair of glasses when she was 20, launched the search for Britain’s best specs wearers earlier this year and appeared on the night to present the overall winner and celebrity awards.

 Dancer Kevin, who has his sights set on the Strictly glitterball with his dance partner, Eastenders’ Kellie Bright, was crowned Best Newcomer. Kevin said: ‘I’d be lost without my specs – I have to wear them for training and love to wear them to make a fashion statement. They are a genuine part of my look so I’m really chuffed to receive this award and it’s all for a great cause too.’

Meanwhile, outspoken TV presenter and journalist, Anne Robinson, showed she wasn’t the weakest link as she was awarded the Services to Specs prize for decades of dedicated specs wearing.
Anne said: ‘I’m thrilled to win this award - I’m a huge fan of glasses. At all times my specs must say: sexy, sassy, clever and WOW!’

 Held at 8 Northumberland Avenue on Tuesday 6 November, the awards night was hosted by Bradley Walsh and attended by countless specs-wearing stars including Joey Essex, Brian McFadden, Vogue Williams, Twiggy, Vicki Michelle, Ollie Proudlock, Ferne McCann and Lydia and Lucy Mecklenburgh. Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding performed a DJ set to round off the evening.




 An auction held on the evening, run by national treasure Christopher Biggins, helped bring the amount raised for Kidscape this year to £80,000, bringing the total raised by Specsavers for the charity in the last six years to £330,000.

Osiris Eyewear brand x Fashion designer Jorgen Simonson = a bold striking collection

Following last year’s collaboration with Osiris, haute couture designer Jorgen Simonsen unveils 14 new and 2 limited edition eyewear designs which will be available at Specsavers from 2 July.

“I wanted to diversify from the original collection by using nature-inspired textures to add an adventurous new dimension of touch and feel to eyewear” explains Jorgen
