PPQ Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection

PPQ’s  A/W 2014 girl is pale and pastel swathed in a multitude of textures.

The collection features liquid patents and sheer chiffons, lace and light leather......

..... setting a sleek 1950’s style for huge mohair coats and monochrome Melton wool wraps to accent.

She reveals a delicate silhouette of translucent lace with details across neck lines and midnight rose prints tell tales of an English Love story.

But she also has a dark side

Maria Grachvogel Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

The collection is fluid, free and flowing with a strong sense of romance and ageless aesthetic.

Slouchy oversized shapes, inspired by masculine tailoring juxtaposes with the distinctly feminine and sensual soft fabrics. The new skit pant plays on this duality appearing as a trouser at the front , yet a flowing skirt as the model walks away.

The seasonal print was inspired by the artist's thick brush strokes, spatters of paint and distortion of ink. Abstracts impressions of flowers and wildlife can be seen.

Holly Fulton Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Think lazy hazy summer days and glittering glamorous nights of the 70s, especially 1977 and with soft focus pop siren Noosha Foz as muse.

Post Modernist pattern is diffused across billowing lightweight silks.

Florals take on a new dimension, a nod to the romantic vision of Laura Ashley- intensely embroidered and symmetrical on shirt dresses or softly sprayed across structured shapes.

The large collection includes fluid silk shirt dresses, flowing maxi skirts, structured A lines, pyjama silk lounge suits with dressing gown style coats and

... denim pinafore dresses with fan shaped bibs. The fan shape also made its appearance in the prints, as cut outs on the front of tops, jewellery and as large colourful clutch bags. 

 Juxtaposing with the soft fabrics of silk and denim, is the stiffer textured cork. Inspired by geometric concrete friezes of sculptor William Mitchell the cork material was cut, elasticated and linked with a crystal to form unique decorative silhouettes.  

For evening the glitz comes in the guise of tinsel coats and crystal chokers.

Maria Grachvogel AW13 Collection

Titled Reflection, this collection was inspired by the quiet calm of winter woodland landscapes laid bare. 

Artwork is of stark dried branches, decayed leaves and negatives of deconstructive botanical prints. On paper it sounds cold and harsh, but on silk chiffon, satin, velvet and wool it’s a warmer and softer story. 

 Texture was a key feature with degrade wool creating the illusion through a black and ivory mix.                                                                                                                                                           

 

This leather belted sheepskin coat will definitely keep you warm. Here paired with black sweater and black jacquard trousers. The woven jacquard pattern on the trousers creates an illusion of a vintage embroidered lace overlay and was also seen on dresses, skirts and jackets throughout the collection.

For the first time Grachvogel introduces the more casual skinny stretch pant and teams with her signature artwork print tops. The silk satin blouse is in the white on black negative graphic botanical print.

Titled Wintergate this collection shows the frameworks of an industrial world while finding counterbalance in the beauty and spirit of the natural.

Bold architectural lines in structured suiting,....

... caged bodices and armadillo layers create sculptural silhouettes that echo the man made whilst

.....fluid silks and sheer panels summon the feminine force.

Tonal shades of grey, black and ivory are laced with futuristic chrome, reflective metals and neon nectar hues.

Knitwear in shimmering silver

Lines meet in plaited leather and rows of metal giving way to unexpected new check, architectural graphics, hole punched metal, wooden and plastic beading, woven raffia and flickers of pearl and diamante meet to form the textural landscape that is Wintergate.

Ashish AW13 Collection - ~Working Girl

Last season the Ashish girl was a young maths geek. This season she is all grown up and working.  Her new work attire is not inspired by the office, but from manual workwear:

 the high visibility yellow vest with reflective tapes, aprons, boiler suits. 

Prints are of checks,

 tartan and......

....  the black and white distinct pattern found on the Keffiyeh (Arab headdress).

 She is the best dressed labourer on the building site.

 Her sweaters may have added plastic pockets and silver reflective straps, but they are of luxurious  mohair.  

 And that tartan blanket she wraps around herself to keep warm on her tea breaks is sparkling with sequins.
