SS17 Sunglasses Collaboration: FAKBYFAK X Manish Arora

The collection includes 2 styles, each in 4 color combinations.
Inspiration came from the mood and themes of Manish Arora's FW’16 clothing collection “Hell’s Belle", which has an amalgamation of creative influencers from Twin Peaks to Haribo, with a sprinkling of Americana, African and the extravagance style of Burning Man.

The frame’s models are a reworked take on the form of classic aviator glasses.  With mathematical precision, the familiar form was redesigned, adding rotating lenses, resulting in an accidental provocative flavour.

Ironically inverted aviator frames resulted in an unexpectedly feminine manner, and became the idea for another model in the collection.

ACNE STUDIOS LAUNCH SECOND EYEWEAR COLLECTION

Two new styles, Indy and Charge (image below) , play with the classic teardrop shaped lens. Indy has an acetate frame in either black or turtle that thickens at the sides and over the bridge. Charge has a thinner acetate frame that follows the line of the lens, and comes in contrasting combinations of frame and lens - such as a pink frame with grey lenses, or light beige with green.
Both styles have defining metal rivets to attach the stems to the frame.

The bookish style Frame, the original eyewear design from Acne Studios, is one of the key designs. Frame, together with Library, gets an update with new metal rectangular tabs in the corners of the acetate - a new signature of Acne Studios eyewear.

Other core styles in the collection include the oval shaped acetate Mustang, which comes in a new orange shade, while metal frames include the Spitfire aviator, the circular lensed Winston and the futuristic Mask.

Prices start at £230 and will be available exclusively in Acne Studios stores worldwide and on http://www.acnestudios.com/uk/en/

Polaroid Celebrates 75 years in the Classic Styles

Polaroid is celebrating 75 years and so they've decided to look into their archives and recreate their best shades throughout the years.
Now the sun is shining, you can choose which retro style to look cool in from the Polaroid Heritage collection:
Here are my favourites:

1950s the JIVE

Cat eye frames were the vogue in the 50s and these sunnies eye lifting frames take inspiration from the look.
This style will look perfect for the on trend lady-like full circle dresses.
Also available in brown with polarized brown lenses

1960s the TWIST

In the fast moving days of the 60s, these large frames would have been something to twist and shout about.
Look super cool in a short shift dress or shorts
Also available in brown with polarized brown gradient lenses

1970s the FLOWER

Using the original flower detailing on the bridge, these updates still have the flower power of love.
Flower prints are all the rage so add more floral with these sunnies. Also a great pair to wear at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Also available in gun/purple with polarized grey gradient lenses

1970s- the SOPHIA

Staying with the 70s but going for the International glamourous and sophisticated look. Here the frames are  Italian inspired in tortoiseshell pattern.

Also available with translucent azure green undertones.

Which decade will you choose?

Transitions Lenses -The ideal Transitional Accessory from Winter to Spring

Whatever the season , a pair of sunglasses is the accessory to wear when the sun is shining. Alas sometimes we forget to take them out when the weather is cold and then get caught out by the glaring sun.
Face a Face - Begum 3
But for those of us with less than 20:20 vision Transition Lenses will make sure that's a thing of the past.

Their prescription lenses adapt to sunlight, turning from clear glass indoors, to sunglass lenses in damaging sunlight, blocking out 100% of harmful rays
Face A Face - Kazan 3
They are now more advanced than ever with shorter tinting time and more sensitive light management technology.
Face A Face - Kazan 1
And the great advantage is that you don't have to sacrifie on style as they partner with several of the most well regarded frame makers throughout Europe to provide the most luxurious of designs.
The above designs are all from the French brand Face A Face who design their frames along the themes of architechure, contemporary design and international fashion.

Other brands include British designer Tom Davies, Danish designer brand Lindberg, Belgian label Theo.
And for eco frames they partner with Italian frame designers Modo Eyewear who are producing the most state of the art frames with an environmental conscience.

The sun is shining - Look cool in Kirk Originals Sunglasses

It’s as though the British weather can’t make up its mind- one minute it’s cold and we’re all wearing boots and jackets, then the next the sun is shining and we’re shedding all the layers.

Today is one of those hot sunny days and it’s time to air those sunglasses.

Those quirky eyewear makers Kirk Originals also design sunglasses and their hot new collection is:
AFTERGLOW
Already been recognised as being THE sunglasses to wear by Basso & Brooke when their models strutted the SS12 catwalk wearing them.
DIVA in black and scarlet red

With large dramatic frames in the classic shades of heavy block black and tortoise, they’ve also introduced the lighter opaque shades of navy and ochre. Inside the frames there is the glitz and glamour sparkle of glittering scarlet red, silver or gold
The names are also dramatic with the voluptuously rounded Diva; the larger than life Goddess; and the Nymphette whose frame cheekily sweeps up at the end.

STUD in black and silver
And for the boys there are the straight topped Loverboy; the high bridged Stud and the slightly rounded Stallion.

Check out their website: http://kirkoriginals.com
