Christmas Trends for 2013 with Vanessa G

As the nights draw in and the leaves start to turn the countdown to Christmas begins. The social calendar also starts to fill up - from formal work parties to casual Christmas drinks with friends.Deciding what to wear can be a little stressful to say the least. Here are some helpful hints and tips to combine practical winter clothing with looking glamorous throughout the festive season.

Keep it Classic

Clothes with a flattering A-line silhouette look great on all body shapes. An A-line dress is a perfect example of these classic lines which are not only flattering but is a look that transitions from day to night by swapping pretty daytime pumps for evening court shoes. Keeping a statement A-line dress in your wardrobe is essential.Updating your look from season to season with statement jewellery and a well designed and tailored dress will help you to stay on trend.

Glitz and Sparkle.

Christmas is the season for a little bit of sparkle in your wardrobe. Try and limit your outfit to one sparkly item, for example, a sequinned top with plain black trousers or a black or oxblood red clutch with a some sparkle which will go with most outfits.

Make it Work

With lots of social events to attend this season you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’d have to wear a different outfit to each party. It is, however, possible to put together a Christmas wardrobe utilising a few key pieces.A statement dress as well as well-cut smart trousers can be mixed and matched with pretty tops. Keeping a consistent palette colour across your wardrobe also helps for example, neutral tones or black, brown and deep reds. Accessorising an outfit is a great re-style option. A belt, statement heel or jewellery can make a real difference.

Some Like it Hot

Keeping the cold at bay doesn't necessarily mean lots of layers or an impractical large coat. Faux fur is a classic way of adding warmth but not bulk to an outfit, whilst keeping ultra chic. Fur collars, trimmed gloves and luxurious scarves will all keep you warm without ruining a sleek, carefully put together look underneath.

Pattern Me Pretty
Patterned prints have very much stayed on trend from summer to autumn/winter ‘13. Colourful peg leg trousers match perfectly with leather brogues and a neutral top.Bright prints don’t have to mean pastel palettes, warm colours like oranges, pinks and blues work well this season. Vanessa G’s latest collection combines classic lines and colourful patterns to create stunning pieces which will surely be a hit at any Christmas function.
