STARSICA AW18 at London Fashion Week

Titled 'Seiren sings for a Mad King', Ike Seungik Lee, the designer of STARSICA, took his inspiration from learning the phenomenon of otherness from observing the behaviours of the unspecified masses around us.

The collection draws on reinterpreting Greek tragedy as a fashion monologue .

Sirens (the body of a bird with the head of a woman) are  found among the prints of Ike's own painting on the fabric of a matching dress and coat.

Whilst one of the models is transformed in to a Siren wearing a golden feathered top with wing like sleeves.

Mythological elements such as the star, bird and semiotic signs are embroidered over suits and coats.

And are also seen enlarged as a frilly design on sheer dresses

Short faux fur sweatshirts are adorned with the evil eye talisman and elongated golden horseshoes symbols. .

Hearts dangle precariously from baggy jumpers and faux fur coats

The Mad King is portrayed through Gothic arched lines and hard reliefs..

Primary colour for the Mad King is the royal dark purple whilst grey is used to describe the Mad King's power.

The coffin reinterprets the portable bags carried by the Mad King

Glen check tartan and wide sleeves create a mix of fabrics and colours to express the intertextuality and cohesive characteristics of Siren and the Mad King.

These pieces are highlighted with romantic silhouettes on tail edges, scribble prints and splashes of gold which reflect the sense of sadness brought about by the death of the Mad King
